Good bye inner lizard, hello salamander! The day started out damp but not actively rainy. We enjoyed the route to Le Tour and a stroll through the small flower laden village at the base of the ski area. With just a few turns down alley roads we were greeted by these amazing flower displays.

After the village we begin our climb up as the rain began to fall down! After the initial steep climb through the resort, we were thankful (and Kelly was very surprised) to find an open mid station with a warming area and hot chocolate!!
Once warm (well warmer) we continued upwards through a very muddy but flower filled trail. White strawberry flowers dotting the stream sides, dense fog, cow bells and evidence of the ski industry made a straight foreword ascent feel mysterious.

After several hours we made it to the windy and cold Col de Blame and into Switzerland!

The descent into Trient was steep and tested our day two legs.

We arrived to a very clean, warm and comfortable room at Le Grande Ourse. We immediately enjoyed a very steamy hot shower and a large Swiss beer!
We most certainly appreciated the comforts, especially after seeing a tour group of soggy tents as we entered town!
This is our room and our view out of our window.

Time to decide if we are taking a higher or lower route for the day today. Snow levels look to be creeping closer, but weather forecast calls for some clearing. Either way onto Champex to celebrate our 10th Anniversary!
