When one considers whether the trail side slug could provide more traction than the trail itself, it might be just a bit too muddy. The rain has been relentless. Never too heavy, just a constant drizzle with short periods of "Did it stop enough so can take my hood down?". The cloud cover does add to the mysteriousness of the alps. It has made for several sudden appearances from neighboring peaks.
Today we had a choice of trails. The typical route that passes by a glacier up to a col (pass) then down to town. Or the alternate "Bovine" route that traverses and avoids the high pass. Due to weather we opted for the traverse.
