After climbing over 5,000 feet to arrive at Mont Fort yesterday, we learned that our next destination, which required passage across 3 cols had not been accomplished by any hikers this season due to snow and rock fall.
As the picture shows, Don had some disappointment on missing the high alpine glaciers and I largely felt relief that we weren't taking any unnecessary risks. Have I mentioned I REALLY love Izzy and Owen and very much look forward to resuming my role of Mommy!
So, after 1.5 hours of hiking, a gondola ride, one bus, one train, a two hour wait, another bus, another two hour wait and another bus we have re -routed ourselves past the danger and to Arolla.

View from our stay for night...

Unable to arrange a backpackers meal after the long day of travel, we decided to go out for fondue. We ended up having the best dinner yet on our adventure (well, except for maybe Florence's).

Outside the restaurant.

Don told me we were ordering a petite salad before the fondue it was really a petite plate of meat. It was very funny!!

Happily eating lots of cheese and drinking wine!!

Apricot sorbet and a shot of apricot liquor were served after dinner. Apricots in season all over the hillsides.
And to really top it off a break in the clouds and one of our first real views!!
