Cabane de Moiry - Mottec

When sleeping closely with a 100 or so newly met acquaintances you get up early. Especially when most of them clearly had an early agenda with climbing. Our hiking agenda was not up but back down the way we came up.

Back down the fixed rope. Kelly was glad to have brought her Yaktrax (chains for more grippy boots) as the snow froze up overnight.

A look back at where we came from. The hut is in there, look for it!

One of the many crazy cool flowers we keep seeing along the way.

Kelly even found Edelweiss!!! I don't ever remember seeing it in the wild.

We spent most of the morning traversing down valley above a hydroelectric dam.

Even traversing the Swiss find a way to make it nice and steep.

At the end of the traverse there was one long sun exposed, cow riddled UP to access Corne de Sorebois (top of Zinal ski area). We had a nice lunch enjoying the new view.

Part way down in the ski area.

We cheated today and took a ride down on the tram. The cost of the hut stay the night before included tickets "to save your knees, if you like". So we did and even rewarded our efforts with a bier.

After a short stroll down canyon from Zinal we came to Mottec our retreat from hiking. We are so fortunate to stay two nights in this perfect "Le Mazot".

We finished the day with a fabulous meal and company from our hosts Penny and Eric.
