The day started with saying good bye to the kids. Oma and Opa came by in the morning and the four of them were off to see their cousins in Santa Rosa, CA.

The house of course felt eerily quiet with the kids gone so we took advantage of a few hours of time to clean it... Tim and Oscar gave us a ride to the SLC airport, thanks guys!
We made to the airport!
And on board.

Our first flight was a 10 hour flight to Paris. No problems or issues other than the inability of good napping. However the inflight movie selection has come a long way.
The connection at Paris proved only slightly stressful. A huge line of 50 plus people and one person checking passports. There was no way we were going to make our connection to Geneva. Yikes. But more passport checkers showed up and we had plenty of time...
Our short flight to Geneva was slightly delayed but not enough to cause problems. We took a shuttle to Chamonix which just might be the only car ride of our trip. We shall see.
Now we are enjoying a rainy stay in Chamonix...
We are staying in the Chalet Florence, with Florence herself as our greeter, cook and guide. After a detailed tour of the ins and outs of her absolutely perfect cottage, we relaxed in deep bath with some French port and had dinner under the awning outside. Florence prepared a green chicken curry, salad of shredded carrots and cabbages. Plus apricot and berry tarts for dessert. She has a sizable garden just outside and an obvious love and talent for cooking. Florence just might be a French garden fairy.
See she even made a rainbow!

After dinner, a break in the rain made for a perfect stroll through Chamonix.

Back to the chalet and a much needed rest! Despite a 1 am wake up, we were both able to fall back asleep to the quiet raindrops and woke up refreshed.
Florence greeted us with freshly baked croissants outside our window. Maybe hiking is completely unnecessary, we will just stay here!
It really does look like a magical place and what fun to have your own Florence Fairy to cater to your needs. Wish we were there!!
